History A happy and healthy pet starts with a plan!

History

Dr. Harry M. Zweig founded Nassau Veterinary Clinic in 1937. It is one of the oldest animal hospitals in New York State!!! Believe it or not, many of our original patients were family cows and sheep! In 1956, Dr. Herbert Dietrich joined Dr. Zweig. Many changes have occurred in our clinic and in veterinary medicine since the 1950's. Dr. Zweig has since passed on and Dr. Herbert Dietrich retired in 1992. In December 1992, the clinic moved from the original location in Nassau to its current state-of-the-art facility, just one and one-half miles east of that original small red brick building. The new clinic is three times larger. In 1996, NVC sold the large animal portion of the practice and made a commitment to focus on the family pet and the Human Animal Bond. Today, NVC, employing six veterinarians, Dr. Lisa Dietrich, Dr. Carolyn Sanford, Dr. Rose Broglio, Dr. Suzy Fink, Dr. Jillian Moser, and Dr. Jennifer Haber. Our talented and compassionate staff of over 40 currently cares for about 24,000 family pets.
