I grew up in northern New Jersey in the suburbs of New York City surrounded by animals. I started saying I wanted to be a veterinarian at the age of 6, shortly after I considered and gave up my dreams to become a cocktail waitress in a bowling alley and a truck driver after seeing the movie Convoy (really). Even in high school, my drive was to be a veterinarian and I started a ten year stretch of working in veterinary clinics on weekends and school breaks.
I attended Cook College of Rutgers University on a pre-vet track, spent 13 months overseas studying wildlife and traveling in East and Central Africa, graduated from Rutgers, then started vet school in Philadelphia at the University of Pennsylvania.
When I graduated from U Penn, one of my professors recommended I interview at the Nassau Veterinary Clinic. It was a little out of the area I was searching in, but had a staff so warm and supportive with truly humane, compassionate, progressive medicine that immediately I knew I wanted to work at the clinic. I joined the Nassau Veterinary Clinic team in August 1998 and have been blessed since then to work with an amazing staff and truly wonderful clients. The staff has been very supportive of my professional growth and sometimes changing interests. Clients every day allow me to play with their pets (the best part of the job) and entrust the care of the furry family members to us. I am so incredibly grateful and excited to work at the Nassau Veterinary Clinic.
I now live with John in a newly renovated 1830’s farmhouse and our many furred and feathered creatures. One of whom is Einstein, the world’s best dog (pictured). He was adopted as a puppy in 1995 with a fractured leg after he was dropped off at the Emergency department at U Penn while I was a student.
