Growing up, I always had an interest in animals, so naturally I wanted to pursue a career working with animals. I graduated from SUNY-Delhi in 2003 with an associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology. I continued my education at Cornell University and graduated in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. Since 2003, I have worked at Nassau Veterinary Clinic as a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT). Working with Dr. Phillips showed me how interesting veterinary dentistry could be, so I began working with him as my mentor, and I pursued advanced certification in veterinary dentistry. I am currently in a 2-year program in advanced dental training through the Academy of Veterinary Dental Technicians (AVDT). In June 2010, I will have completed the program and earned accreditation as a Veterinary Technician Specialist in Dentistry (VTS-dentistry). Currently, there are only 31 technicians accredited in dentistry. At the completion of the program, I will be the only VTS (dentistry) accredited veterinary technician in the capital district.
I am a member of the New York State Association of Veterinary Technicians, American Veterinary Dental Society, and the Academy of Veterinary Dental Technicians.
